Behavior
You can't coach "be better." You can coach a behavior.
Behavior is where strategy either happens or doesn't. Every result you want traces back to a specific thing a person does, or doesn't do, on a Tuesday. Most teams never name those things. So they manage outcomes they can't control and stay frustrated by results instead of coaching the behavior underneath them.
Behavior is one of the six steps, not the whole system. It only works once Winning and Identity are set. Get those first, and the right behaviors have something to serve. Skip them, and you're drilling habits that point nowhere.
We name the behaviors, then build them into the work.
Here's what the Behavior install looks like inside your team:
The vital few. The two or three behaviors that actually drive your result, pulled out of the dozens that don't.
Defined so you can see them. "Communicates well" is a wish. We write it as something you can watch happen, or not.
Built into live work. The behavior gets practiced in real decisions and real meetings, not a role-play.
Coached every week. Your leaders learn to catch and correct it in the moment, so it compounds instead of fades.
From "I wish they'd step up" to "here's the exact move, let's drill it."
You know something's off but can't name it. So you repeat the goal louder, hope it lands, and end up doing the work yourself to hit the number.
You can name the exact behavior that's missing and coach it on the spot. Your leaders coach it down the line. The result stops being a mystery.
Behavior is where the first two steps become visible.
Winning and Identity live inside a person. Behavior is the first place anyone else can see them. Get it right and it sets up what you're finally willing to stop tolerating.
